Captain Pointon has 18 years of experience at sea with BP and Vector Offshore on Oil and Gas tankers and also offshore supply vessels.
Captain Pointon has an Extra Masters Certificate, and spent 3 years seconded from BP to OCIMF as a Nautical adviser. He spent 3 years with UK MCA as Port State Control Inspector and examiner of Masters and Mates, 9 years with OCIMF as Training and Accreditation Manager and managed the day to day running of the SIRE system. Captain Pointon also has 8 years of experience in shore management at BP, both as Marine Superintendent and Vetting Superintendent.
He joined Shipvet in 2018, is Secretary to various Sub Committees and Focus groups with OCIMF, and Updated and created new editions of the VIQ and HVPQ.
