Simon is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer with extensive expertise in maritime engineering and operations including 20 years at sea and 15 years in senior office roles.
Simon Jones initially worked on Containers, Bulk Carriers and General Cargo ships as well as Oil Tankers. He then spent 30 years with BP, 15 Years at Sea with the BP Fleet on VLCC, Product Carriers LNG Vessels with 7 Years as Chief Engineer. Moving ashore he spent 15 Years in the BP Shipping Office, as a Supt and a Senior Level Leader. He held Eng Superintendent Roles - New Build Machinery; Engineering Standards; Planned Maintenance; and Classification Society Single Point of Contact. Simon was also 3 Years as a Senior Vetting Superintendent, and 4 Years in LNG Assurance as a Subject Matter Expert. He spent 3 Years as the BP Vetting Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa (Integrated with BP Oil & Gas Trading Benches in Canary Wharf). When LNG Operations Manager he ran the LNG Fleet with the introduction of 6 x New MEGI into the fleet of Turbine and DFDE vessels.
